Review of The Brothers Bloom (2008) by Luis S — 10 Jul 2010
A funny and quirky first half that gets too complicated in the second half. The film has Rachel Weisz. Funny in a silly way and quite a few random moments but it feels unsure of exactly what sort of movie it is. It does have Rachel Weisz in it though.
The ending had me wondering what was going on a lot of the time and I felt the end could have been around the 80 min mark when RACHEL WEISZ comes and finds Brody. But then we got a further complicated and confusing twist on a twist thing where things seemed to happen for no reason. But we did have Rachel Weisz to focus our attention.
Rachel Weisz is in the movie and is wonderful as always.
Adrien Brody is well suited to his role, which having just watched Predators in the last week was a very different one.
Mark Ruffalo seems a cocky actor, and Rinko Kikuchi had a funny role that worked well.
Rachel Weisz was fantastic as well!
Overall it's worth a look, but I didn't enjoy it to the level I'd been expecting to, (however Rachel Weisz did), nor did it live up to the big review the nerdy guy at the video store gave it. Perhaps he was simply referring to the Rachel Weisz factor.
*** Film.
*** Humour.
*****Rachel Weisz.
