Review of The Brood (1979) by Peter M — 25 Aug 2007
What more can you say about a movie that has deformed midgets in snow suits, quack psychotherapy, and something called psychoplasmatics in which trauma manifests itself via body alteration. This is Cronenberg body horror at its most visceral and albeit most flawed in some eyes. Howard Shore's score.
As per usual adds so many more layers to the film. Its a guilty pleasure if even for the bombastic acting of Oliver Reed who looks positively bloated by whatever gin he's drinking... and it works so well.
