Review of The Brood (1979) by Manny C — 12 Aug 2008
Holy shit, this movie knocked me on my ass. The Brood are really creepy. I jumped out of my skin a few times, and it wasn't because of cheap "THX" scares like what's overused today, but because of the insanely creepy kids.
At first, you only get brief glimpses, but even after their appearances are fully revealed, they're STILL creepy as hell. The rest of the movie is fantastic. The acting is phenomenal (there isn't a hint of cheese anywhere), especially from Oliver Reed, who plays Dr.
Raglan. The story itself is unlike anything I've ever seen, and one particular scene towards the end is incredibly revolting. This movie has substance AND viscera. Fantastic!
