Review of The Brood (1979) by James R — 14 May 2009

First time a horror movie has made me jump in ages! I recommend not reading about this movie before seeing it, as any plot info will probably ruin it, but this ought to entertain most people. Stay away if you don't like psychological / medium gore.

There seems to be some issue that Cronenberg wrote this while going through a divorce, which makes me see that he has a lot less of a message in this, but rather exploring anger and insanity. There's a lot of relationship conflict as well.

This should definitely be on a list of horror classics; there are some great Hitchcockesque moments.
