Review of The Brood (1979) by Lisa S — 22 Dec 2006
[font='Times New Roman'][size=4][color=#000000]David Cronenberg gives us a very interesting twist at the end of this film as well as a very disturbing scene of a mother cleaning one of her newly born?well?what ever it is.
I do give this movie credit for getting a pretty good balance between creepy atmosphere, suspense, and gory deaths. The effects that give us those deaths are done very well. The film does suffer a little bit in the acting department.
Oliver Reed is pretty good, but everyone else in the film doesn?t really shine in any way. The movie soundtrack also fails to impress. It shows up now and then but really doesn?t add to the movie. I still recommend this film, especially to real horror fans who know good horror is more than a series of bloody death scenes strung together.
