Review of The Brood (1979) by Xavier D — 12 Jun 2008
Cronenberg on nihilistic and extremely pessimistic form, with a history of violence in the family leading to new mutant births made of human rage. The film has a great feel for interior and exterior spaces, and one of Oliver Reed's supreme performances.
It's take on a father trying to wrest his child from its mother would make this an intriguing double bill with Kramer Versus Kramer.
