Review of The Broadway Melody (1929) by Joel H — 06 Aug 2015
I was worried The Broadway Melody of 1929 was just going to be series of full-length musical acts (a la The Great Ziegfeld), but it actually has an interesting story to go along with the musical numbers.
The acting is pretty awful, though. It feels like some of the actors are reading from cue cards. Still, since I can't think of a better film from that time, I guess it deserves the Best Picture award.
