Review of The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) by Brad G — 27 Nov 2010
"MADNESS!" The Bridge on the River Kwai, master filmmaker David Lean's epic saga of human Will, Pride, and Insanity is about as perfect a movie as you will ever encounter. Alec Guinness gives his finest performance (sorry, Star Wars fans) as the headstrong, but criminally prideful Colonel Nicholson and William Holden is the very definition of a man's man as Major Shears.
It's a tremendous film with what might be the greatest climax in cinema history. Hyperbole? Witness and judge for yourself. VF.
