If you can whistle, you'll love this film. How do Prisoners of War keep their morale up? And when might a captured officer cross the line when pride in himself and his troops makes things not only easy for the captors, but proves beneficial to the opposing war effort? Physical and psychological aspects of this movie hold up to any film of the 21st century.
In fact, it easily surpasses recent films on multiple levels. You can't consider yourself a film buff until you've seen, and understand, this picture.
