David Lean's other epic masterpiece (Lawrence of Arabia being the first) has those very long and slow paced scenes you come to expect from his films, which I absolutely love. The real reason I love this film though is through colonel Nicholson (Alec Guinness) and how he develops throughout the film psychologically.
