Review of The Brave One (2007) by Matt R — 04 Jan 2010

This female-oriented version of the Death Wish movie as well-acted, with great cinematography. I say "version," because this movie is almost the spitting image of Bronson's opus, right down to the city in which it was set, and has many, if not most, of the same elements - a professional who is shaken by his / her own vigilante spree, a sympathetic cop, and a New York full of bad guys who badly need to be put down (although Jeff Goldblum doesn't make an appearance as one of them, in this flick).

In fact, I'd say this might one-up Death Wish simply because the acting in this movie is several leaps and bounds better, and the back and forth between Foster and Howard adds a razor-sharp dynamic to the film.

Thoroughly enjoyable in almost every regard.
