Review of The Brave One (2007) by Bill C — 04 Sep 2010
Looked at as a remake of the Classic Vigilante Charles Bronson Flick, Death Wish. Jodie Foster plays a woman who is recovering from a vicious attack that left her emotionally and physically scarred and more importantly without the love of her life, her fiancée (Played by Naveen Andrews) who was killed in the vicious attack at the hands of 3 thugs, Oh and to top it all off they stole her dog too.
I wouldn't say I disliked the film as much as I would say I found it a bit draggy and lacking that spark. The Vigilante scenes though somewhat ok, never had that feel that you were rooting for her.
Some parts came out of nowhere and you got the feeling that things usually don't work that way. Things were figured out too quick and the overall feel was "off"....One has to wonder if a director more used to this type of genre would of handled it much better and delivered an overall "tighter" or even better product, at least I did.
