Review of The Boys Are Back (2009) by Jared C — 02 Jul 2011
Filmed in a great landscape, I say this is a film worth watching. The great thing about it is not only how good the actors ar, but the heart of the story is touching. Clive Owen in his best role ever plays Joe a man of two sons Artie and Harry ( who lives with his mother in London) loses his wife to cancer. Now left alone to look after and take care of his young boy Artie, Joe decides to make a new rule to say 'yes' to all of his sons requests without not thinking about the situation. When he gets a call from his other wife that Harry wants some place to stay for a while, Joe brings him back home with him and Artie. Helping out Joe in his day to day duties been a sports writer for the Sun and a busy dad is his wife's mum and Artie's art teacher Laura who give Joe the support he needs. But when everything is going better things get worse as Artie experiences different levels of emotion to his mothers death and Harry is forced to open up angst feelings about his dad.
The film is a touching piece of work and is directed brilliantly with many laughs and tears, and most importantly an ending worth watching to the end.
