Review of The Boy Next Door (2015) by R I — 14 Feb 2015
A laughably bad thriller with so many problems that it makes my head spin. Lopez is very unconvincing as an English teacher but she's at least trying. everyone else is either hamming it up or sleeping through their performances.
There are a lot of laughably bad scenes in the movie such as the attempts at humor that feel like they're straight out of Adult Swim's anti-humor shows. Everything is so predictable and over-the-top that there is only one scene I can praise and it's when the stereotypical bully gets the shit kicked out of him because that scene surprised me and made me look up my phone for a couple seconds.
Other than that, this movie is a mess.
