Review of The Boy and the Beast (2015) by Zachary S — 06 Mar 2016
This is actually the first film I've seen by Hosoda and I liked it quite a bit. It had a couple of story problems that hurt its score a little but overall it was a really good film. The relationship between Kumatetsu and Kyuda, which is the crux of the film, also saves the film in a big way because they're easily the two most developed characters and are really fun to watch.
The eventual villain felt a little poorly done, but the ending battle scene was cool enough that I won't begrudge it too much. If you're a fan of this style of animation and like unique stories, check this one out.
