Review of The Boy and the Beast (2015) by James R — 11 Mar 2016
A wonderful anime about a boy named Ren who stumbles across the secret world of the beasts. The beasts life in their own world where two fighters Iozen (who is loved by everyone and properly trained) and Kumatetsu (brash, arrogant, but a brilliant fighter) are fighting and training to become the lord of the kingdom.
Kumatetsu brings Ren under his wing and after many years the two learn from each other. Ren learns about fighting and having a father figure in his life and Kumatetsu learns to control his anger and learns what it means to care about someone other than himself.
The film has some wonderful animation and some very well done fight scenes. There's a bit of a slow down during the last half hour, but it picks up shortly after. The movie is fantastic and has a great message about love and learning about who you really are.
I highly recommend giving this one a look!
