Review of The Boy and the Beast (2015) by Vasco M — 03 Mar 2018
I love love love the style and animation in this movie. I can already tell this is going to be in my top movies that I like. The artwork and line work is beautiful. That whole portal into the other world was so good. Kumatetsu has such a nice and quaint little place. Really cute that little mouse creature. It's interesting to see how the beasts live just like us humans. So cool seeing the two fight and go in to super beast mode. Judging from the fight, it seems Kumatetsu still has a lot to learn.
I can already see how Kyuta will help Kumatetsu learn what humility is and maybe make him less selfish and conceited. Character development has begun. The animation in this movie is so fucking smooth and attractive to look at. Wow, it's so beautiful to see how both of them have taught each other and have grown to become better people. It' interesting to see how different Kaede and Kyuta live their lives.
This movie has such a great heart which it wears on it's sleeve. I was not expecting Ichirohiko to be so fucking evil and conniving. Wow, Kumatetsu made the ultimate sacrifice. That was a pretty touching moment.
Overall, terrific movie about different worlds and different people and how they can come together to conquer evil. It's a very thoughtful movie about relationships and friendship but also about knowing oneself. It touched on a lot of important themes that we can use to better ourselves. I love this movie!
