Review of The Boy and the Beast (2015) by Aïko G — 26 Jul 2016
The Boy And The Beast is a compelling animated Japanese movie. It has everything you'd expect from movies like this. Adventure, mystery, emotions, cool fights and a completely over the top ending. I have always liked Japanese animé and this one didn't disappoint.
We see a young orphan living on the streets. By accident, he passes some sort of magical barrier and ends up in a world where animals live together as we humans do in a sort of society. There the boy becomes a disciple of a rude, but powerful fighter.
The Boy And The Beast is cramped full with metaphors. It is one big coming of age story for both main characters and is all about choosing the right path and having a strong inner power. Even though the characters are very traditional, which is very typical for this kind of animé, it absolutely works for this movie.
