Another excellent tale from Mamoru Hosoda (Wolf Children, Summer Wars), this time looking at an abandoned child striving to overcome the darkness in his heart, and his flawed mentor struggling with the calls of surrogate parenthood, and that's what it boils down to, beyond the spectacular animation of fantastic landscapes and intense action .
