Review of The Boy (2016) by Ray W — 27 May 2016
THE BOY, which feels like an update of PIN, is a reasonably effective thriller with a reveal that may or may not work for you -- it did work for me.
Long on atmosphere and short on originality, it is buoyed by strong performances and some striking cinematography by Daniel Pearl, who shot the original TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE.
If you're looking for scary, this is grade school level fear, but the script makes an effort to tell a human story of loss and mourning without becoming too broody.
