Review of The Boy (2016) by Greg B — 24 Jan 2016
"The Boy" is a horror/suspense film about a woman who travels to England to be a nanny for a mysterious couple's son, Brahms. The boy is a doll, but she has a sneaking suspicion there might be more to Brahms than meets the eye.
As far as possessed doll flicks go, this isn't the worst I've seen. There's a decent story and character development, and many of the things that Brahms does build suspense and a spooky atmosphere.
However, by the end, things get extremely confusing and the viewer is left to wonder how things really led up to the climax. Short of spoiling anything, matters get muddled really fast, and the ending will confuse the hell out of you.
I have to mark this film down for a flawed execution ----------------------------------------------------------- C+.
