The "there's someone in the walls" story which never changes and (unfortunately), cannot be unseen, might have been good once. However, 1 of 5 of the haunted house movies I've attempted to watch as of late, have abandoned originality for this lazy "plot" and left me disappointed.
It's not a twist ending when we assume it's someone in the walls and only hope that the film makers were not that incompetent. No wonder the horror genre (which I love) has such a bad name.
