Review of The Boxer (1997) by John C — 14 Dec 2007
One of the best fiolms about the ira, boxing, romance, and redemption ever made. A poerfully emotional daniel day lewis plays danny flynne a man who just came out of prison for serving fifteen years for a bombing he was a part of when he was a teenager. He comes back to his the street he grew up with, rekindles his love with the sexy emma watson, opens his own gym to train young kids to use their minds and to defend themselves and to go back into fighting. WEhile the odds are against him and an irish gangster who wants nothing but to hurt him and destroy everything he loves and stands for has to find a way to survive and savethe ones he love befroe its too late. One of daniel day lewis's best performances and his wonderfullful chemistry with emily watson is stunning. with great support from Ken Stottt, Brian cox and Gerrard Mcsorely, a great love story and beautiful direction from Jim sheridan makes this a great masterpiece.,.
A masterpiece and worth owning.
