Review of The Boxer (1997) by David Klein — 25 Jan 2009
Outstanding movie. Although,Jim Sheridan's movies usually are. Excellent story and acting. Very gritty and realistic and moving portrait of life in Northern Ireland. Unlike other movies like The Wind that Shakes the Barley or In the Name of the Father, this movie about a later time period really brings home the sad reality of the Irish fighting against themselves.
The "Danny Boy" scene alone is worth watching the movie for.
