Review of The Bourne Identity (2002) by Jeffrey C — 10 May 2012
From a Robert Ludlum novel, The Bourne Identity might lack the capacity to infiltrate excitement but its inimitable CIA method aptitude is adequate to make it a likable one. Jason Bourne is a CIA agent and part of a special group called "Operation Treadstone". He was on a mission to kill the African dictator, but missed it and was believed to be dead after the latter shot him twice at his back. Now, Jason had lost all his memory and the only thing he has is a bag full of combat skills that he will surely use as the film antagonists will do anything just to dispatch him. Something like this is fun to watch, chasing your own identity at your own risk.
Jason Bourne reroutes the James Bond legacy, he don't use a stellar gun like Agent 007 always does, but he's got the smarts and knuckle chops to kill the villains. He can't be Ethan Hunt who always makes impossible happen with his buds, but Jason is a one man team who can slit the boss without the help of anybody or anything. One thing is for sure, if only Doug Liman can add some intensity to it's climax, then Bourne can surpass both Ethan and James, you can't help but compare this guys, they are all tough and heroic.
