Review of The Bourne Identity (2002) by Trevor R — 09 Apr 2013
Good action flick with a solid lead performance from Matt Damon. Unfortunately, I found the tension undermined and the sense of mystery removed by constantly cutting back and forth between Bourne and his government conspirators.
Using multiple viewpoint characters is a screenwriting technique that can work if used with discretion or a very specific thematic purpose, but more often than not it's just a narrative shortcut. "The Bourne Identity" is still really enjoyable.
