Review of The Bourne Identity (2002) by Bryan K — 29 Dec 2013
The filming is crisp, the pacing is solid and there are some action sequences sure to pump blood. But one has a really hard time shaking just how empty this film feels. Bourne for all his training and anger has absolutely no depth, wading through a forced romance and fighting a seemingly nameless enemy that has all the personality of a drone.
Cooper's character is also wasted, brimming with backstory and a burning passion for his project's work that culminates only with a clichà (C)d speech to Bourne's expendability and his untimely demise soon after.
Good action movie or not, the plot needs to have more than just a Robert Ludlum title going for it.
