Review of The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day (2009) by Faith B — 29 Jul 2010
2.30 stars. "Boondock Saints 2",- A great example of a cult film that probably should not have been made by the same director and writer. BSII comes out like a sluggish prizefighter: sloppy, ten years beyond its prime, and showing us no new tricks.
With pretty much the same story as the previous film, and intertwined with excessive flashbacks, it only becomes more aggravating with the presence of Julie Benz and her hideous Georgian Belle accent.
It is assumed we will accept what amounts to a recast of Willem Dafoe's Smecker from BS, and then Clifton Collin Jr as the 'Rocco' character which only serves to infuriate anybody who has seen the original film.
It's a shame that "The Boondock Saints" barely clipped a profit on a meager budget because it will go down as a franchise that could have been so much more than what was acceptable as being just alright.
