Review of The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day (2009) by Joshua R — 24 Feb 2013
Hated this on the first viewing. However, after a two year gap between then and a second look at the movie, I find it very funny & a worthy follow up to the original. And it, at least my mind, seals Troy Duffy among the elite few "true" filmmakers out there that makes films for the love of making films.
Not for the money, or the celebrity, but for the art & the fans. That is what movie making is supposed to be about. The art & the audience. Duffy clearly has only those two in mind as it is on full display here.
No matter the content of the film, the juvenile humor (that IS funny) or the excessive violence and zero morality or lessons learned. Duffy is doing what he loves and it shines all the way through. Thank you Mr.
Duffy! I only wish there were many more filmmakers like you out there with the balls to damn the studios, convention, the critics and the main stream "sensabilities. It is the rebel Director's who always win out.
B+.
