Review of The Boondock Saints (1999) by Jan B — 27 Sep 2012
Instant classic...there aren't enough words in the English language to describe how awesome this movie is. "The Boondock Saints" is one of those few independent flicks that gained such a huge, "cult-like" following.
Sean Patrick Flanery & Norman Reedus play Conner & Murphy MacManus (respectively), two Irish fraternal twins who go out on a crusade to rid Boston's crime underworld of all the ruthless gangs & drug lords in the city.
On their trail, "hot-shot" FBI agent Paul Smecker (played by Willem Dafoe) is in pursuit of the brothers while investigating the crime scenes of the dead bad guys who have felt the wrath of the Saints.
This movie is directed by Troy Duffy, whose style of filmmaking is very reminiscent of Quentin Tarantino. Billy Connolly, David Della Rocco, and even a guest spot by legendary porn king, Ron Jeremy round out the cast of this modern gangster classic.
This movie is smart, witty, & has a lot of great funny moments. This is a "must-watch" for anyone who's interested in this genre. 5-Stars all the way!!!
