The Book Shop is one of those outstanding little gems that showcase brilliant acting and fine writing. This is not a film any American company would ever produce. It took many foreign companies and a lot of love to bring this small Masterpiece to the screen. Not only is the cinematography subtle but stunning but the period costumes and sets are lovingly reproduced . This film astounds in Bill Nighy's restraint and perfect performance. Emily Mortimer portrays both passion , innocence, strength and faith in her dream in a multi-layered performance that is unforgettable.

Clarkson and the child actor are razor edge in their work here .

This is a human study in so many emotions. It will leave you with an indelible memory and a sense of awe not found in many movies being made today.
