I was looking forward to this movie for months. What could have and should have been a great movie came off as only so-so. The acting is fantastic. The scenery, costumes and everything else was fantastic.
Everything except the inability to show the depth of connection and love between Liesel and Rudy. Between Liesel and Papa. It never showed either, not in the way the book did. It skated over Liesel's depression from losing her brother.
No nightmares. No bed wetting. No all nighters with her Papa. I loved the book. I wanted to love the movie but was sadly disappointed.
