Review of The Book Thief (2013) by Adrian Z — 15 Mar 2014
Poignant adaptation of Markus Zusak's novel, depicts the hardships of living in Nazi Germany through the eyes of a young book-loving girl (Nelisse) whose adoptive family is helping hide a Jewish man.
The recreation of time and place is rather good, but what impresses the most are the likable performances, specially from young Nelisse, as well as Emily Watson as the amusingly stern, but good hearted adoptive mother.
