Review of The Book Thief (2013) by Shane H — 29 Mar 2014
Golly. Sophie has got to be the cutest little girl that has ever blessed the big screen in a leading role. Dakota who? Exactly. I never read the book, nor had I any clue what this was about, so I went in completely blind.
Which may be an advantage, because I'm sure anyone who read the book first wants to personally punch me in the teeth for having given The Book Thief 4 stars. Too many touching moments to count. I was an emotional train wreck in some parts.
But what do you expect? I tend to get a little too engulfed in dramas...for better or for worse, you be the judge. I'm happy to say that there wasn't a moment in the movie where I lost interest.
I was hooked the whole way through. Wonderful script, brilliant acting. Geoffrey Rush makes you feel all warm inside. Strange how in such dark times, beautiful stories can rise up beyond the clouds. Oh, and one more thing - - fuck off, Hitler.
#sns.
