Review of The Book Thief (2013) by Claire M — 26 May 2014
A beautiful adaptation of a beautiful book. Set in Germany during World War II, little Liesel is taken to a foster home by her communist mother. She couldn't have been taken to a more loving foster father who makes her feel at home instantly, it is with this foster father that she learns to read, and it is books that become the constant throughout the story, linking Leisel's experiences through a troubled time.
She meets many characters, makes many friends and sees many hardships throughout and as an audience we get a unique insight into Nazi Germany through a growing child's eyes.
