Review of The Book of Ruth: Journey of Faith (2009) by James T — 07 Sep 2011
A good story, but poorly executed. It's a film adaptation. A film adaptation retells a story, but adjusts it to the media. This film does not truly take advantage of the medium of film. Also, it did not seem to do much to interpret.
The frame story tried to bring about a lesson, but it was more of a simple sudnay school lesson that was somewhat related to the story, instead of the deep themes that run through the story. The setting did not feel like Israel.
The acting was not just terrible, it was intollerable. It seemed more like one of those poorly acted skits where someone dressed like the bible character. Very over dramatic. I can forgive the poor production values.
After all, it was made on a shoestring budget.
