Review of The Book of Life (2014) by Seychelle G — 27 Dec 2015
Super gem of a movie. Didn't hear much about this one before I saw it on Netflix. Turned it on for my daughter and was very pleasantly surprised. Cute and unique. Gorgeous soundtrack with some really precious covers.
(Can you say Mariachi cover of "I Will Wait" by Mumford and Sons or a nod to Radiohead's Creep backed by a classical guitar?). Deals with some deep subject matter in a very cute, clever and respectful way.
Very funny throughout as well. Found myself laughing out loud on several occasions. My 4 year old's new favorite movie. She actually has been keeping count of how many times she has seen it. Could be intense for some children but a genuinely wonderful movie.
Oh, and best use of "Ecstasy of Gold" since it's Good, Bad debut. This one earned a place in my personal digital video vault.
