Review of The Bone Collector (1999) by Dann M — 16 Aug 2012
The Bone Collector is an intense crime thriller that gives a little too much away, but still delivers a captivating mystery. The story follows a paralyzed forensic specialist who takes on a young protege in order to solve the murders of a serial killer.
The casting is especially good, and includes Denzel Washington, Angelina Jolie, Ed O'Neill, and Michael Rooker. Washington and Jolie have a particularly good chemistry that helps to draw the audience into the film.
Additionally, the story is fairly well written and uses some interesting motifs for the serial killings that make them unique and interesting. There are some problems with the last act, but overall The Bone Collector is a compelling and suspenseful film.
