Review of The Body Snatcher (1945) by Senor C — 14 Sep 2010
Up until yesterday I didn't even know this movie existed! I always thought it was part of the 'Invasion of the Body Snatcher' series. Oops. Really, all I need to see were the names Karloff and Lugosi as top billing and I knew it was going to be great.
THEN, I see Robert Wise behind the camera? Well, jesus. And Val Lewton producing. Needless to say, I was in love. The film is very tame and struggles more with the complex issue of nature vs. science.
There is no clear winner between the two. In my mind the winner is Karloff, as he pulls off one hell of a menacing performance.
