An absurdly bloated and indulgent comedy, it feels like a late 70s Universal studios love-in with big stars in throwaway roles. Importantly the music is great, despite some lip syncing crimes, and the increasingly ridiculous stunts are a hoot.
Akroyd and Belushi veer from mugging to deadpan as they stumble through the very slim plot, upsetting people left right and centre like a couple of suited and booted children. It's the messy, overlong flagship film that 70s Hollywood deserved, with both the enjoyments and flaws that entails.
