Review of The Blues Brothers (1980) by Marlon E — 21 Nov 2011
With a fantastic soundtrack and a brilliant cast of comedy and musical heavyweights, The Blues Brothers is an eighties classic from none other than the decade's foremost comedy director, John Landis.
Bolstered by the stellar partnership of John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd, the film spins an irresistible web of high-speed action, physical comedy and toe-tapping musical numbers. In fairness the action sequences are so over-the-top that they cheapen the comedy, but this was never about clever humour, it's about big laughs from start to finish, and that's exactly what it delivers.
The Blues Brothers is a joyous, timeless film, that only gets better the more times you watch it.
