Review of The Blues Brothers (1980) by Bruce R — 18 Jun 2014
Once again John Landis directs yet another classic comedy. It has not aged well though and that is why my rating is a bit lacking. There are still some great bits with Nazi's, Nuns, and Aykroyd consistently saying "We're on a mission from god".
Plus great cameos from legends like James Brown, Ray Charles, and Aretha Franklin. However it is a very long film especially for a comedy and it wears on the viewer a bit. Maybe that's just part of its age factor but regardless it's there.
But the mere fact that the police pursue these two men extensively is quite funny and the conclusion makes it worth that wait. Jail house rock makes a lovely finale.
