Review of The Blue Lagoon (1980) by Nikki J — 16 May 2018
This movie was so excellent and endearing. The people giving it bad reviews (including the critics) are being ridiculously immature. This is EXACTLY why the USA is looked at as having a bunch of prudes.
I loved it because it shows a REALISTIC version of how two teens that know nothing about their bodies, sex, etc....discover how to do things. Of course they "discover" it quicker than in real life, its a movie and it would be 20 hours long if it was drawn out.
Yes, they run around naked, they are on an island ALONE, who would they wear clothes? Its realistic. Also, everything, from how he discovers masturbation, to how to breastfeed their child is so realistic and I love it.
To me, thats what made the movie endearing. I thought that Christopher Atkins acting was better than Brooke Shields, but he was older and she was only 15. I imagine that that movie wasn't easy to film for a lot of reasons.
This is honestly one of my fav films. I really liked Return To The Blue Lagoon, but I LOVE this one.
