Review of The Blonde Pick-Up (1951) by Keith P — 30 May 2012
Now this is one sleazy piece of celluloid. It's one of those movies that tries hard to be sexy, but just fails on every possible level. Racket Girls (AKA Pin-Down Girl, AKA Blonde Pickup) is more or less an exploitation movie, with the exploitative part being filled by very large breasts and women's wrestling.
Most of these gals couldn't even get a job doing ads for J.C. Penney if they wanted to. A good half an hour to an hour of the movie is devoted to the lame wrestling and you're struggling like hell to get yourself through it and move on to something else.
The plot is hackneyed and tries to be a gangster movie at times, but overall, it's just a sleazefest, and not a particularly good one. Thankfully the crew at Mystery Science Theater 3000 did a nice little riff on it, and that's the only way I'd recommend this boring piece of crap.
