Review of The Blob (1988) by Brian S — 17 Sep 2015

This movie definitely had some amazing creature effects in it and some really interesting moments and developments (some of the people who died, I expected to live, and they died in far less heroic ways than thought).

The effects for the first couple deaths were outstanding. That rapist jock guy certainly deserved his demise but was it ever odd that his reaction was for Vicki to stop? It should've been obvious it wasn't Vicki.

.. But I suppose that would be be quite a shock and the brain wouldn't likely react quick enough to realize the difference. Saddened the reverend did not take the opportunity to discuss the value of a woman and the goodness of waiting for marriage when he caught the high school parishioner buying condoms while warning him about its sinfulness, but what should I expect from Hollywood? Also, paintinga the reverend the way they did in the end although appropriate for the context of the story only furthered the perception that bible believers are crazy.

.. Biggest complaint is as fun as it was, that's all it was, hence the 3-star rating.
