Review of The Blob (1958) by Coleman J — 27 Nov 2007
Important more for mechanics of how well it was shot and edited, and for the intro performance from Steve McQueen. Who looks a little too old to get away with "high school teen" in this, but hey. He still looks damn good in the car he tools around in!
The blob looks good in that red, shiny, gelatinous way it moves around. And it surrounds and consumers a kitbox Diner! Oh no America! Your way of life is under attack! What will you do?
I own the Criterion edition of this, and it's great fun on a sci fi nite. But not something I need to trot out very often.
