Review of The Blob (1958) by Conner R — 09 Jul 2010
I think what makes it so much fun and so goofy is the fact that it was intended to be taken so seriously, little did they know it really only works as a cheesy b-movie. Now it's style is seen everywhere, especially in low budget horror, but this really is the king of all implausible sci-fi horror movies.
To think about a man eating ball of gelatin destroying a town is just utterly ridiculous. I love the acting too, it's an essential part of the movie's effect. It's as if the Cleaver's town was taken over by aliens.
