Review of The Blob (1958) by John J — 09 Apr 2008
From the embarrassing Bert Bacharach theme ("Beware the Blob"), to the stilted dialogue, to a young(ish) "Steven" McQueen obviously still struggling to master his profession, to more wrinkly teenagers than Grease and Happy Days put together (McQueen was pushing 30).
.. Apparently a Sci-Fi classic, but very much a product of it's era. Paranoia throughout, fear of teenagers, the unknown (even commies at one point unless I'm very much mistaken), this is the Sc-iFi equivalent of reading the Daily Mail! For the history buff and completist only.
