Review of The Bling Ring (2013) by Kostas S — 14 Sep 2013
Based on real events, a bunch of vacuous, celebrity and fashion-obsessed youths burgle the houses of Paris Hilton, Lyndsey Lohan, etc. By stealing cash and couture clothes, these young people demonstrate a strange compulsion to live the lifestyle of the rich and famous.
They pose with their takings and share pics across social networks, as if they are featuring in socialite circles. One can't help question whether or not the direction of the film is meant to make both sets of activities (that if the rich and that of the thieves) seem as equally shallow as nobody comes out of this particularly well.
