Review of The Bling Ring (2013) by Jc E — 17 Dec 2013
Am I the only one that never heard about the real-life events that inspired this movie? No? Good. I'm not the only one out here who doesn't care about what Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan had stolen from their homes by a bunch of bored, undisciplined California brats.
That said, director Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation) could have directed a worse picture. However, it's pretty forgettable in the end. Even though it attracted Emma Watson (This is the End), Leslie Mann (ParaNorman), and up-and-comers Katie Chang, Israel Broussard, Claire Julien, Taissa Farmiga, and Georgia Rock, it still never presented a likable character, an intriguing scenario, or a compelling reason not to take a little snooze in the middle of the teen's thieving antics.
Watson tries to shed the good-girl stereotype, but will likely just leave viewers wondering why Hermione left a life of witchcraft for larceny. Yeah, it's pretty forgettable in the end.
